BATMAN BEGINS

BATMAN BEGINS

Due other engagements with the Popcorn Avenger, this movie is being reviewed by MONSTER MIKE.

Despite the fact, that the movie needed more of the Scarecrow, this was an excellent movie. Christian Bale, the guy who went around butt-naked chopping up chicks with a chainsaw in American Psycho, plays the best Batman since Michael Keaton. In this movie, we learn the origins of Batman. The one and only Liam Neeson (Darkman, Star Wars episode 1) played Batman's sensei or teacher. Katie Holmes played Batman's love interest. Katie Holmes was cute, but my only complaint is that she should have been wearing less and bending over more. Gary Oldman (not Gary Coleman the midget from Different Strokes), one of my personal favorites, played Jim Gordon. This movie also included other film legends such as Morgan Freeman (played Lucius Fox), Ken Watanabe (played Ra's Al Ghul), and Michael Cain (played the lovable Alfred). The director was an interesting choice, Christopher Nolan who also directed Momento.

Gotham City was truly breathtaking, as it reflected the city in Metropolis (Not Superman's home town, but the film of the same name). This movie is different from the previous Batman films, so keep that in mind before you fork over your six to nine bucks to see the film. If you really liked the first two Batman films directed by Tim Burton, than this is the movie for you. If you liked the Batman films directed by Joel Schumacher, then you might want to think twice about watching this movie. Batman Begins is the creepiest of all the Batman films to date (believe it or not even more creepy than the Batman movie with Adam West). I give Batman Begins a Grade A-.
